Profile & Policies Critique: L7designs

Our critique today is for L7designs. The theme is profile and policies. Please post your feedback in the comments!

  1. Carrie,

Your basic info in profile & policies is good. I just think that some of the info you have on the "welcome" in policies may be better suited for the profile page. The section just seemed really long. I always think of policies as just being the payment, shipping info and look at the profile as the area where I learn a bit more about the designer.

The name of your shop is unusual and an explanation or story as to how it came to be named that could be good. If you don't have one ...get creative and make one up!

I like your banner & avatar, although I think a little more brown background and a little less pattern would be good. I think your blog looks great, maybe your banner could be more on those lines.

I do think that your pictures seem a bit too light. I know you just re-did them...sorry:(, maybe it's just my monitor. They seemed washed out when I viewed them in gallery style.

    Best of luck.

  2. Just a few things to think about . . .

I really think the 2nd and 3rd paragraph of your 'Welcome' under shop policies might be a better fit under your bio. It divulges more about you and your philosophies.

I think it's good that you mention your blog in your bio. You might move or copy your team memberships here as well as mentioning any social networking sites you belong to!

Regarding Payment & Shipping - how are your shipment dates affected by holidays?

Things to Consider for Additional Info:

    • Allergy notice? I had previously mentioned to another team member about mentioning the pet in the home. Some people are, to varying degrees, allergic to pet dander. I have a dog in my home and my hubby and I both have various respiratory allergies. I state in my shop policies what areas my pet does and does not have access to. I also state that I am willing to make accommodations for persons with pet allergies.

    • Do you have a privacy policy?

    • Reiterate or move your custom work blurb from your shop announcement to here.

    • Do you only prefer to be contacted by the convo system, or do you have a business e-mail address someone can use to contact you if they so prefer?

That's really all I have for today!

  3. I remember as a new buyer that I didn't know what "convo" meant. Of course, now it's standard lingo, but as a new buyer (I was a buyer long before I ever considered selling anything here) I thought I was missing something. I've often wondered about using this jargon and if it's confusing.

    Just throwing that out there.

  4. Wowza! Lots to think about! Thanks much for your suggestions and comments. I've made some updates already to the various sections and hopefully things look a little better now.

    Thanks!

  5. TRush - you have made a very good point. At a somewhat recent Etsy lab, the admins were commenting on how many new shoppers there are on Etsy now vs a couple of years ago, and they were saying how it's a good idea to say something like "Please use the 'Contact link....'" instead of "Just convo me". Since then, I've been migrating the "contact link"blurb into my descriptions.

  6. Looks like you have already fixed most of the probelms that have already been addressed. I would not say sorry that you have a cat in your studio though! I especailly like how you explained your shop name. I do have a few suggetions about shop appearance. I would change the part under your banner to say what you make instead of the title of your shop again. I would also try and get your photos so they are all angled and cropped like the be happy one. Good luck with future sales.

  7. I get a sense of who you are in reading your profile. Lots of good info there. Lots of good points added to your policies, too. Don't be sorry for having kitty, kitty is family!! I am very allergic to cats but that wouldn't deter me from buying paper goods from you or goods from any other Etsy seller.
    Best!!

  8. Looks like I'm late to the party, much of what is discussed here has already been implemented!

I like the explanation of your shop name and how you described your smoke-free but cat present home. That's my situation, too, but I hadn't figured out a nice way to say it!

I also really like the way you handle the refunds & exchanges statement. Keeps it simple, and doesn't sound off-putting.

    Well done!
